Have you ever heard that “Life is so Boring”?
Yes, we have. Too many times.
At that time when we were still a senior high school student, we think that everyday life is just like that. Nothing is special. Morning goes to school; afternoon go home from school. We’re college student now. And we thought that everything will be just as boring as it was in Senior Highschool.
But guess what?
We met an extraordinary Lecturer, His name is Realrich Sjarief. First time we heard his name, we were like “Damn, his name is so cool.” When we met him the first time, again, we were like “Extraordinary Name is held by Extraordinary Man.” He has a very broad outlook on life.
Mind, there are 3 types of minds, he said.
Original Mind
Conventional Mind
Dimensional Mind
Original mind, is about the Past. We need to surpass the past us. Let go of the past. Be free from the past. Learn from the past. Accept the past. And that past is all about fear and sadness.
“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.”
Conventional mind, however, is about the Future. What we want to be? What we want to achieve? What we want to have and not have? The future where we are better than today.
“What have you done wrong yesterday? What have you forgotten to do yesterday? It’s okay, be the better person than you were yesterday.”
Dimensional mind, is the realization that in this time of life, we should enjoy our life. Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.
“If you keep one hand on your past, and one hand on your future, you’ll never have either. To embrace tomorrow, you must let go of yesterday. And to embrace today, you must stop obsessing over tomorrow.”
Have you heard about “Nous? Do you know what Nous is?” he asked the whole class. Nous means Mind or Intellect. Nous has 4 poles in knowledge.

Sophia, is about belief. When you lose your belief on something, you will lose yourself. Here you can find a role model that keeps you away from negative thought and keeps you motivated.
“Believe that everything happens for a reason, you live for a reason, you just need to see things from different perspective.”
Techne, is about skills. Soft skill, hard skill, skill that you need for your future. And all of that need not excellences, but repetitions.
“Time can never be reversed. So, wake up when no one is awake, Train when no one is training.”
Episteme, is about self-improvement. You can start off with taking care of your health and mental health. Later, you can read books to improve your vision, talk to people to see things differently. Everything counts as self-improvement.
“To improve your mood, exercise. To think more clearly, pray. To understand the world, read. To understand yourself, write. To be happy, don’t expect. To get more, give.”
Phronesis, is about practical action. Things you do that gives you credits in your life. Which turns into happiness and sense of achievement.

“Life is like a book. some chapters are sad, some are happy, and some are exciting. But if you never turn the page, you will never know what the next chapter holds.”

To be honest, it’s very interesting when you are in deep thought of life.
He also talked about talent plus effort means skill, skill plus efforts means achievement. For us, this is one of our favourites. You see, if you got talent but you didn’t improve your talent, it became nothing. When you improved your talent, it became your skill. When you have that skill and you work hard with it, you get achievements.
And what if you don’t have a talent?
That’s okay, not all talented people become successful. Effort plus effort also means skill. All you need is enjoyment. When you enjoy doing something, you will learn it well. But when you don’t enjoy doing it, you become tired, and you won’t learn well.

Besides of life lesson, he also taught us that we’re here not to sit and listen to what the lecturer has to say, then have exam of it. We were being pushed to be confident person. He gave us an assignment to interview a person who is experienced in many ways. The truth is that we’re happy to be given assignment like this, unlike others, they commented on how crazy it is.
We think that assignment like this will give us many lessons. Much more than the assignment that asked to you make a PowerPoint of a subject that lecturer has taught you. Of course, there are feeling on “What if they don’t agree to be interviewed? “
“If you never try, you never know what awaits.”
Turned out the person we’re interviewing was very friendly. We were afraid that he would be a grumpy person. We told him that, then we laughed. We learned a lot while talking to him, so many new insight, new perspective, so many that we can’t write it all.
“Observe everything, Observe the world, to get a better insight.”
What about a boring life you were talking about?
We enjoy observing our life.
Everything seems to be very interesting.
When we are young, we don’t have the chance to write something like this, we don’t have the chance to meet people like this. We were always bored by the way the school was. But this time, Mr. Sjarief made the whole class fun.
Since we’re a short person, people always think that we’re kids. And kids don’t understand anything about life. So, we have been keeping this for ourselves.
But you know what?
We know that everything is not to tell, and that’s what we are proud for ourselves. We’re addicted to the feeling of no one knows what we can do, no one knows what we understand.
“Never tell anyone what you are thinking, and you’ll be mysterious. And being mysterious itself is a pleasant feeling.”
Actually, we’re secretly admiring ourselves, that we can be different from other. That’s our way to love ourselves. By dressing not for others, but for ourselves to see. We love formal clothes, our family said we’re crazy, no one is wearing formal clothes every day. But it gives us the confident.
“Dress neatly no matter the occasions, no matter the times.”
These quotes are not only changing our perspective but changing our life. Combine all that quotes and take it to your heart. You can be a better person the next day. You learn to understand the world, a life-changing occurrence that some people took long enough to realize.
At our age, you may find some are dragged to a worse path and better path. We know people who addicted to Sweet, Caffeine, Energy Drink, even Vape. Sweets are not as bad as Vape though. But, let me tell any who you are reading this,

“Imagine someone gives you a Ferrari and you just leave it outside. Never drive it and don’t take care of it. Eventually the person who gifted you the Ferrari comes and sees that it’s rusted, dirty, and looks old. Because you didn’t maintain it. Naturally that person is angry because you didn’t appreciate their gift. But what if we tell you that the Ferrari is your body. And God is the one who gifted it to you. Are you really taking care of his gift?”
We don’t tell them those in their faces, because what we understood is that, “You can’t change people mind, you can’t control what they do. The only thing you can control is your mind, your response, and your action.” So even if they are in a bad path, and you are their friend, that doesn’t mean you have to be like them.
