Reflection Letter:

In accordance with the internship culture at RAW, I would like to share my reflections after these two months spent within the agency.

My internship at RAW Architecture in Jakarta was much more than a professional experience; it was a true immersion into a way of practicing architecture that is at once experimental, collective, and profoundly human. Living and working inside The Guild and OMAH Library gave me the sense of being part of a microcosm where design, craft, research, and daily life are seamlessly interwoven.

On a professional level, I strengthened my technical skills in environmental analysis, 3D modeling, and architectural writing. Working with Rhino, Grasshopper, and simulation tools gave me confidence to approach design through the lens of climate and context. I also discovered new methodologies of writing, ontological, epistemological, and axiological, which pushed me to reflect more deeply on the meaning of architectural practice and on how ideas can be transmitted through words as much as through buildings.

Equally important were the human and cultural lessons. RAW gave me the chance to engage with artisans, fellow interns, and mentors in a spirit of openness and mutual learning. I realized that architecture is never an isolated act, but the outcome of many hands and minds working together. I also learned to value the dignity of craftsmanship, and to see the construction site as a place of experimentation, dialogue, and respect.

On a personal level, this internship changed my perspective on the role of the architect. I came to understand architecture not only as a technical or aesthetic pursuit, but as a spiritual and ethical journey. An architect does not simply design forms; he or she carries values, cultivates awareness, and builds relationships that give meaning to space. My time at RAW reminded me that an authentic project is born when one is willing to put a part of oneself into it, to see architecture as service, as care, and as a contribution to humanity.

What I will carry with me above all is the RAW spirit: a belief in experimentation, in collaboration across disciplines, in respect for local wisdom, and in the courage to rethink established models.

Returning to La Réunion, where bioclimatic architecture is only beginning to emerge, I feel inspired to pursue this path and to contribute, in my own way, to building architecture that is more contextual, sustainable, and humain.

I am deeply grateful to Realrich Sjarief and the entire RAW family for their generosity, guidance, and trust. This internship has shaped not only my skills as an architect, but also my outlook on life and the values I wish to uphold in my practice.
