Dio Asmandaru – Univeritas Gadjah Mada

Ever since i got into college, my family especially my father always said to never spend my time only to study in campus all the time, don’t be too study oriented but always look for new experiences, expand my link so it will help me a lot when it’s the time to look for a job, because real world is scary. When i thought of it and i saw both my older brother and sister looked for a job, and i saw myself and i said “wow, all this time my life is so easy” and i was terrified of what will happen if i don’t expand my link and experience during my college years. Nevertheless, it is required in my department, Architecture Department of Universitas Gadjah Mada, to complete a practical training program after passing a 5th grade of Architecture Studio Design course (a 6 credit worth of course) as one of the requirements to earn a Bachelor Degree, so now is the time to do so. So i looked for a design studio that hires an undergrad students to do a practical training by asking my senior and a lot of Googling. Then one day my senior recommended me RAW Architecture, a design studio that he worked also as an undergrad when he does a practical training. He said that RAW will not only bring me projects to do, but also teach me to do them the right way and he also said that the people are nice. At first i wasn’t sure, so i asked my 2 other seniors who also do the practical training at RAW, both of them gave positive reviews and recommended me also, one of them even said that if i do well at RAW during practical training they could contact me back and hire me after i graduated to work there. So there it is, one of the things that really matters for preparing on real world which is link expanding, so i got pretty sure to apply at RAW. So one last thing to made me very sure was visiting RAW’s website to see the projects the firm worked on, and they are well designed.Things that motivate me to do the internship at RAW are not because it is required by my department to do a practical training, but because i believe that RAW will provide me 3 main things for my preparation to face the real world, which are skill, link, and experience. Because honestly, after 2 and a half years of college i feel that i learn so little about architecture. And i hope that i will learn much more during my internship at RAW. And as an undergrad who never tasted a real job before, i will need a job experience, what it is like working on a real project and collaborating with people from different sections, learn a whole new thing from a whole different angle. I hope this is enough for a motivational letter and hopefully, i will acquire what i pursue from interning at RAW.
