Crafting Versatility in Studio Garasi

In our first ever office which we call the Garage Studio, the front space was initially designed as a transitional zone before entering the working area, a room to play and chat with black-painted walls, adorned with chalk and white marker scribbles. As time progressed and our team expanded, the need for working space became imperative. The garage studio underwent gradual transformations to maximize its ergonomics, yet still had a room for versatility.

In one scenario, the room could be used as a communal space with casual seating format. When demand for projects was high, it could easily transformed into a working space, first by opening a wide door to connect the room with the designers’ working space behind. The furniture installed were crafted by hand, with knockdown tables that could be easily assembled comprising three tables for the technical team. This team arrangement was strategically positioned streamline coordination among team members.

Various tasks unfolded simultaneously within the studio, fostering a natural and harmonious process. The spatial arrangement of this garage studio reminds us of how we once envisioned spaces, navigating spatial constraints through the strategic placement of horizontal and vertical dividers. Each stage represented a gradual and exploratory journey of growth within the garage studio.
