Wirawan Bioclimatic Home

In a residential project, the architect has the opportunity to get to know the client. It’s the beginning of a long-lasting relationship, where the architect and client come together not only to create a space but to shape a dream that will serve the client and their family for years to come.

Started in 2012, where we learned about the standardization of construction materials and the diversity of wood with its types of advantages, thickness, thinness, and imperfections. We also learned that space programming is important and and will be reflected in the daily life, attitude, nature, and goals of our client. How our client takes care of his family and all the dreams, including his children, are woven together in sequence.

This house maintains its compact efficiency. With a larger land area, this house has a view towards the garden from the family room, library, and bedroom by keeping its distance from the neighbors. The layout consists of 3 bedrooms + 1 master bathroom with their own bathrooms, allowing space for family members to gather while also respecting individual privacy.

The ground floor is attached to provide structural integrity while a central light and wind corridor serves as the heart of the home, opening up into a large void that invites natural light and air, creating a comfortable, family-centric atmosphere.

The house’s form is based on a stepped Platonic shape, rooted in clarity and simplicity, using a Cartesian grid. The green roof garden creates a transitional space that links the indoors with the outdoors, while wood elements and lush trees provide insulation on the west side.

The interior design is coordinated with the PIU studio; this is the first time we have worked with an interior consultant. This collaboration brought a special detail to the design, with thoughtful choices in the shape of the TV backdrop, sofa layout, and dining table selection. Every element was carefully selected to create a space filled with texture, color, and meaning—reflecting the family’s story and the legacy that will continue to develop into a new reality.
