Located in Alam Sutera, this three-story house features a compact, modern design with a focus on sustainability. The 17 x 7 meters site is relatively narrow, which poses unique challenges in optimizing space while ensuring the home remains functional and comfortable.
The design focuses on integrating key sustainability features, such as solar panels and a north-south orientation, to optimize natural light and ventilation. The layout uses three simple grids, which structure the space efficiently while allowing for a fluid and dynamic spatial experience.
The design process begins by considering the overall organizational framework of the space. Each section is rearranged based on several criteria, such as the proportion of space, views, and the potential for creating interesting spatial experiences. By placing the most important areas, such as the living room and bedroom, in the center, the design ensures transparency through the core of the building. This central area provides the best views and natural light in the limited space. This iterative process continues with carefully selecting materials, ultimately achieving an optimal composition that balances functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability.
The final form of the house is tubular in shape, with a central “bridge” element. This “bridge” serves as a strategic feature, enhancing the flow of air and light throughout key areas like the bedroom and living room, ensuring a comfortable living and microclimate to the inner space.
