EduAll

EduAll is a learning and study center located in West Jakarta, nestled within a dense urban complex. The spatial constraints of the site called for a departure from conventional school design. In response, the project explores key questions: How can an informal school be effectively realized within a modest space? And to what extent can spatial potential be maximized despite physical limitations?

The design addresses these questions by reimagining the constrained urban site—defined by fixed columns and low ceilings—as a dynamic, playful, and therapeutic alternative to rigid, traditional schools.

At ground level, a “playground of possibilities” welcomes students with soft, curved forms and vibrant colors inspired by treetops to spark exploration and imagination. A vista from the entrance frames a broadcast space, rooting learning in communication and interaction.

Across four levels, the design uses thoughtful zoning to overcome spatial limitations. The ground floor combines functional spaces—admissions and lobby—with a creative hub. The first floor houses a science zone, integrating structure with experimentation. The second floor features a maker space to encourage hands-on innovation. At the top, the third floor offers an open-plan exhibition and art area to promote flexibility and expression.

Each level balances “viewing” and “being seen” through a combination of open and enclosed geometries. Materials evolve from simple whites and transparent glass on the lower floors to bold, colorful finishes above—serving as a visual and spatial stimulus that encourages students’ creative exploration.

EduAll offers an example on how an informal school can thrive within a modest setting. The space now serves to nurture the student in their creative endeavors, challenging traditional norms for a more dynamic and exploratory approach to learning.
