Wonderball project consist of two padel courts, plus an F&B experience with artistic architecture experience. The project comes with a hypothesis, of how to combine the programs within the small size lot 46m x 17.65m, while integrating it with a sustainable design strategy.
Positioned along the east-west axis, the courts are integrated within the landscape design that acts as a climate filter. They are enveloped by a thoughtfully composed skin of brick, perforated metal panels, and Sukabumi stone, which together allow airflow, add texture, and enhance tactile quality. This design creates a comfortable playing environment, supported by four active cooling fans.
A transition from the entrance into the court is made through a non-obstructive, glass and curved canopy, creating a subtle boundary that invites spectators, players, and passersby alike. Inside, a small gallery space offers a curated retail and lobby with the skylights above, while a concealed back-of-house service at the front efficiently supports the F&B.
The flexible seating arrangement is designed around the main community table. Implemented in collaboration with Mejorset, a renowned Spanish padel brand, this project brings internationally standardized sport facility into the local context. At the back, visitors are pampered with amenities including a shower room, locker area, and makeup room, crafted using local Sukabumi stone and translucent glass blocks. The programs are based on the client’s research on the one of the most promising business opportunities at the end of 2024. It is a way to connect sports with lifestyle and business circle, defining a new kind of social gathering.
