Wonderball Padel is conceived as a compact yet layered architectural composition of structure, climate, and program. The project consists of two padel courts integrated with communal and F&B spaces, organized to achieve maximum spatial efficiency within a limited footprint. Our strategies consist of :
1. Thermal response
To enhance thermal comfort, the courts are oriented along the east–west axis, reducing direct exposure to low-angle sun. A layered building envelope acts as a climatic buffer, composed of curved brickwork, perforated metal panels, translucent plastic, and Sukabumi stone. These elements filter heat gain while providing shade and thermal mass, allowing the courts to remain comfortable throughout the day.
2. Ventilation Strategy
The porous façade system enables continuous cross ventilation, allowing air to flow through the courts. Stack ventilation is introduced through height differences and roof openings, drawing warm air upward and releasing it naturally. Air movement is further regulated with Traftek ventilation systems, ensuring consistent airflow without compromising openness or acoustic comfort, creating a stable playing environment in tropical conditions.
3. Details and construction logic
Lightweight steel structures span the courts, enabling wide, column-free spaces and efficient construction. Roof profiles and enclosure details are calibrated to respond to rainfall angles and sun paths, ensuring durability and long-term performance.
Material choices emphasize efficiency and restraint. Locally sourced stone, exposed steel, and brick are paired with transparent and perforated surfaces to create a tactile yet breathable architecture. Through this approach, form, climate response, and detailing come together to define Wonderball Padel as a performative and context-driven sports facility.
