Tropical house was defined by location of house which was in tropical monsoon climate. Tropical monsoon climate is a condition of area which has temperature 18 degree celcius in every month of the whole year [1]. In Indonesia, The tropical climate is classified in we tropical monsoon climate which means In some instances, up to (and sometimes in excess of) 1,000 mm of precipitation is observed per month for two or more consecutive months. By understanding the context of tropical monsoon climate, we could understand why and what good tropical house is needed, basically it’s for far more creating energy efficient, far more comfortable space for living, far more improving quality of architecture of house in tropical monsoon climate, far more improving understanding of people that by having good design, we are doing far more sustainable practice.
Then, The question is what is the intervention, or design technique which is needed for tropical house. The question brought forward the discussion of criteria, condition of what’s good and how to achieve those conditions.
