Faith isn’t just something what we believe, but it’s also what we do. Questioning myself as an architecture student, I often wonder on how big and impactful my contribution in the architecture field. With several academic and non-academic experiences I have been travelling in, I know they haven’t fulfilled my knowledge in architecture. Then I assure myself to catch on something which could give me an impulse of passionate call in life. Once I saw R.A.W projects and its philosophy, it’s the impulse that makes to apply as a summer intern.
In the year of 2014, I was overjoyed by my participation in AIESEC organization. From educational volunteering in Latvia and leading a 6-weeks environmental project of iGreen in Bandung, to finally put an end to a position of Senior Manager of Incoming Exchange Operation. As I grew to be a self-motivated and independence figure, I have tendency to evaluate myself. That time, I figured I have an imbalance proportion between AIESEC and architecture, the field I wish to pursue as my career.
The year of 2015 was a turn-over, I developed my hard and soft skills in architecture and other aspects. From learning and mastering software to developing new design approach and process, then participating in several architectural competitions, then to decide to have another experience in an architecture firm. What I admire from R.A.W is, the balanced integration between its design principle, referring to various admirable architects to its product, represented beautifully and sustainably in form and space of the buildings.
As an intern among interns, I have expectations to enrich and widen my theoretical and practical architecture knowledge in every project I will be assigned to. Therefore, I can compare and integrate architecture knowledge and wisdom between what I have been pursuing in the university with the ones I will collect in R.A.W. With great determination and efforts, I will continuously encourage myself to fulfill expectations from R.A.W from an intern, with my best effort. Hopefully, along the experience, both will have the same impulse of working together in one architecture’s idiom.
