My name is Teddie Gunawan Wijaya. I am currently on my fourth year studying in Architecture department of Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH). I first came in contact with RAW Architecture through Mr. Realrich. Through previous discussions, mentoring, and some of his published works, I am intrigued to learn more about the design process and the framework of his office. The impressions I get through those mentoring and published works are efficient frameworks, clear thinking process, and precise execution of design. Feeling intrigued and inspired, I come to OMAH for the first time. It was a bit shocking. There is so much knowledge to absorb for one meeting. Later I came to a decision that if I stick around longer, I could absorb more knowledge and experience. For that reason, I would like to do an internship at RAW Architecture.
Over the past three year, I have involved in many design processes, both concerning internal studios, or external projects. The more time I spend on external projects, the more I think that I know too little about Architecture. Those past experience made me realize that the world of architecture, real life (working) and theory (formal architecture education) is not the same at all. Though both is a learning processes, there is some skills that can only be gained after the experience of working (or so I believe).
Those feelings drive me to pursue my passion in Architecture even more. I hope to absorb many new knowledge from RAW Architecture. I would like to learn how an Architecture firm operates in producing a design. Doing meetings with clients, site surveys, and also presentation. I also would like to learn about tectonics, materiality usage, detailed technical drawings, detail exploration, and model making as a vessel to learn. Working speed and production skills is also important lessons for me. Through this internship, I hope to be able to have a decent and efficient framework, clear and efficient thinking process, and the skills to deliver those design ideas.
With that being said, I hereby express my genuine interest to be an apprentice; to be taught and to be trained by RAW Architecture. I do hope that I can learn more about efficiency in framework, clear thinking process, and precise execution of design. I look forward to be a student and a part of RAW Architecture.
