Dear Mr. Sjarief,
Your biographical background, and your firm, RAW Architecture (previously known as DOT Workshop) became my great attention as you presented it at my campus during the event of Gunadarma Architectural Talk Show: “An Emerging Young Architect” in 2012. I underlined your design approach in merging architecture and anthropology. This is related to my personal focus study in commitment to design through humanity approach. I graduated in December 2015 from Gunadarma University with a Bachelor’s Degree
in Architectural Engineering. Enclosed, please find a copy of my resume for your review. As my motivation for internship in RAW Architecture, I decided to learned more on architecture based upon social issues. There is a link between my thought and your firm’s activity on OMAH Architecture Library which will be potential for Indonesia’s development (especially in urban development). I believes in a statement; “if Russia has developed forward by its worker, China has developed forward by its farmer, so Indonesia must be developed by its youngster”. This spirit appeared in OMAH statement, “… focuses on knowledge development on three way to achieve mastery in architecture by developing spirit, body and mind in young generation”. Although I was exciting with OMAH programme, I wanted more than being an OMAH volunteer but to have a contribution as well. During my study I was an apprentice at Studio Dasar (principal: Danny Wicaksono) in Bintaro where I translate structural and architectural drawing into perspective form and then superimposed them together. I was a drawing teacher for children at RA Bintang Kecil in Ciputat. This experience give me a chance to observe “the dialogue” between drawing and humanity, although the object were children. My thought about designing through humanity approach in architectural context became increasingly complex. Personally I have implemented my ideas in any opportunity in my works. Then, I started to learn on some of your firm’s project in greater detail, such as Bare Minimalist. Your design refer to your client’s wishes for developing the concept, and the result not just as simple as answering the client’s wants but also meet the needs of the users. RAW’s design approach which refer to human needs has inspiring me for long. Even more, I have been involved in DOT Workshop’s program to study about social condition in dense settlement (near Pasar Ikan) in North Jakarta, and then the program’s result is an urban design concept for solution in city spatial (2012). Exactly I want to achieve a deeper experience in defining a new architectural work for humanity. And I would be glad if I can contribute on that matter with your firm. I had planned to spend my two months being an apprentice at your firm, starting from May or earlier in this April. So, during this weeks ( at the end of April) I will be able to visit your firm for the opportunity of meeting you, to review my portfolio and discuss my capability to the position I was asking to your firm. Being in RAW architecture will be a pleasure and great honor for my career. You will find me in the enclosed document. I can be reach at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to speaking with you soon.
