This motivation letter is made to express all the passion and interest to RAW Architecture. The first time you heard about architecture, you probably thought that it is a place where the aesthetic and beautiful building, yet spectacular and high-tech with advanced structures and fantastic form is designed. And the other thousand thoughts. Being an architect is a passion, destiny, or even just because it is accidentally happened. There are a thousand reasons. But, probably the goal is the same. To be a real architect. Then, the question appears, “How to be the real architect?”
My name is Amanda Farah Merrynda, an Architecture Major student of Sriwijaya University. This is my third year in Architecture Major. For me, architecture is the world full of challenge, excitement and the world where I can explore and express the real me. In architecture, I found new things that I have never found before. Things I did not find when I was a high school student. Three years being an architecture student makes me notice all the things around me. Being a part of architecture world has grown my passion in architecture and everything inside. Not only as an interest or even because it is accidentally happened. I was trapped. I was trapped in the world which taught me how to think critically and explore myself.
I definitely realized, formal education based on knowledge, technology, and the information is not enough to be a good architect. Because formal education is dynamic and will always be evolved along the current development. The formal knowledge that I got from college is not enough to support me as an architect in real life. The more complex architecture issues and problems become has forced me to notice and think critically, not only based on the design skill which focus on self-expression and intuitive, to solve those problems. One of the efforts to face the issues and problems is: feel the problems themselves by working in real architecture life.
Therefore, as an architecture student who lacks experience and knowledge, an internship program is the way to feel the real architecture life and to answer the architecture problem from a student’s point of view. Being an internship student and participating in RAW Architecture is one of my wishes. RAW Architect is an architect consultant which has a ton of experiences and has succeeded to expand the meaning of architecture itself. It inspired me. As one of the biggest architect consultant in Indonesia, RAW Architecture does not just solve the architecture problem but is also productive. And the designs are synergic to nature. RAW Architecture is a consultant that can explore the architecture in the right way. Most of the RAW Architecture’s designs can interpret the perception of space very well, where every built-line is an appearance of careful thought. It interests me so much to apply for the internship in RAW Architecture. Through the internship program in RAW Architecture, I wish to learn new things that will be so useful in the future. Such as how to interpret architecture the right way, design a building that has “soul” and architecture that reflects the humanity. Through this precious chance, I can enrich myself with experiences. Because I believe that the most important basic is the experience. Such as a proverb that said: Experience is the best teacher. Experience is a learning process to be a better person. Show us the failure to be learned and the opportunity to be developed. As a real architect, the experience is a must-have. Hence, when I become an architect I can answer all the architecture problem, and be a wise architect. Through the design based on nature, social and humanity. I wish I could get the opportunity and be a part of the intern student in RAW Architecture, so I can explore myself and share the experience with real architecture and motivate my friends in Palembang, especially in Sriwijaya University.
That’s all the reason why I want to go to RAW Architecture as an intern student. I wish this letter could be a consideration, and gives additional point to me. Thank you for your great attention.
