I will be presenting the lecture in title of Other Ways of Doing Architecture. Gary Yeow contacted me. As part of the co-organised sharing session with Malaysia Institute of Architects, this forum will be speculating on “Other Ways of Doing Architecture” – inspired by Spatial Agency’s publication. The first session here, conducted in December 2020. As Gary was browsing through my portfolio work, he noticed a great amount of details and experiments in my projects, especially Alfa Omega and Guha (with Omah Library & your studio), while other projects showcased great understanding of materiality as well.
The other architects are invited to the discussion such as Jan Glasmeier, from SimpleArchitecture (I know him from Design United India) and One Bite Studio from Hongkong – both are more on curations and workshops – Gary thought on looking at local materials and cultural craftsmanship ( sharing the behind-the-scenes of these successful projects?) – how these connect to genius loci and essence of Indonesia – are the core values they are very excited for.
It’s event supported by Taylor Insitute and Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) – Malaysian Institute of Architects – is the national professional institute representing architects in Malaysia.

I found out that the discussion led by three moderators, Gary, Hazeek, and Joyee are profound, I learnt architecture as social agency from Jan and how social platform can breach towards new understanding in Sarah’s presentation. Here is some points that I would like to share from Laurensia’s in our journey to find happiness, in my case being a father, architect, and together with her, the dentist who supports our life as family and the lease is Miracle and Heaven ! our lovely angelic son.
