RAW Architecture are excited to be part of (BIAT) Biennale Internationale d’Architecture Tropicale de La Réunion # 3 on October 6th, 2024 in Le Port, La Réunion France. This edition, entitled “Alternative Project Practices in Tropical Environments”. Our presentation aims to explore and promote innovative approaches to architecture in tropical settings. BIAT will bring together international experts, local professionals, and students to discuss contemporary issues and advancements in the field.
The event features esteemed leaders from many regions, such as Hoang Thuc Hao from Vietnam, Carlos Betancur from Colombia, Javier Mera from Ecuador, Kevin O’Brien from Australia, Sébastien Clément from La Réunion, Léandre Guigma from Burkina Faso, Narein Perera from Sri Lanka, Anne-Laure Cavigneaux from Australia, and many more.
Our presentation will be presenting daily and simple works many people have done in Indonesia, like the photos in this post including our studio, by working hand to hand with craftsmen, designers, and many individuals creating unique structure of design who reflect the diverse realities of daily life. From these fragments, a common thread emerges: a shared connection to the tropics, a celebration of diversity, and a profound respect for one another, with words and actions without pretension in the spirit of continuing to learn.
The presentation will also featured several projects that emphasizing locality, affordability, and sustainability, also promoting green and bioclimatic architecture while encourage environmental awareness and critical thinking about the potential negative impacts of construction development.
BIAT de La Réunion serves as an exciting platform to share what we are doing in the studio and discuss mutual approaches in another tropical region. We believe this event will foster shared insights within the global architectural community and contribute to our field’s collective growth.
