RAW Architecture would like to express our deepest gratitude to the ArchDaily team, especially the curatorial team, for the opportunity and recognition given to our work. Two of our projects, Lumintu House and Kampoong Guha, have been nominated for the ArchDaily Building of the Year 2026.
For us, this nomination is not an endpoint, but a pause to acknowledge a long and continuously unfolding journey. It is an appreciation of trust, time, and the many hands and minds that chose to walk together, clients who believed in the process, teams and craftsmen who stayed patient and attentive, and a shared commitment to learning along the way. We believe that architecture is always the result of a collective effort.
Lumintu House and Kampoong Guha share a common thread while growing from different scales and intentions. Rooted in Jakarta and Tangerang’s tropical climate, both projects explore bioclimatic responses through passive strategies such as layered facades and vegetation, air-stacking effects, and deep natural daylight to create open spaces where wind, light, and landscape flow naturally.
From this process, two distinct characters took form. Lumintu House as a personal, experimental residence with a calm and precise material language, and Kampoong Guha as an evolving mixed-use, kampung-like environment that combines living, learning, working, and communal life (animals + humans) through low-tech materials and adaptive reuse. For our studio, both projects represent important milestones—seeds for future works, shaped by long-term learning, collaboration, and continuous exploration. We see this nomination as a celebration of process, people, and ideas that continue to grow together.
