Usual day at our parent house

After that, we took the picture at my parent’s house. My parent’s house was unique because it has a combination of a traditional and contemporary home. The roof is a combination of the Joglo roof and gable roof.

The gate was white and had a particular entry on one side. Its architecture is open, warm, and ordinary, which makes Us like to picture ourselves here. Laurensia is going to move into my parent’s house because of the culture of the family. She is a dentist, will be a housewife, care for her family, and be the best mother in the world. Heaven is on every mother’s feet, so my mother will teach Laurensia how to help manage the family and our life.

In the middle of us, there is a dog named Maru or Happy. Laurensia’s dog accompanies her all of the time, greeting her in the morning, befriend her sleeping or eating. When there is Laurensia, there is Maru in her house. Maru is a toy puddle. In total, there are 4 puddles inside Laurensia’s home. In my home, there was a golden retriever. I had a Pomeranian dog before. From Maru, we can learn how to give genuine love without expecting anything in return.

In front of her, there is The hedgehog in picture, Syahrini lived in my architect studio. The cage was put at the corner, I would open the door, and the hedgehog will crawl out the cell at the knight time. It is a nocturnal animal. In the morning time, it would climb the cage and enter it from the top. We breed the hedgehog with a white one. And a few months later, Syahrini was pregnant and delivered an albino hedgehog baby named snowy.

We live by animals around us, from the fishes, dogs, rabbits, hedgehogs, turtles, tortoises, chickens. The animals become our daily friends and become sweet memories.

The Garage Office

The architect’s studio is inside my parent’s garage. It has a unique door. This door consists of traditional Chinese shophouse joineries. I used inspiration from my grandfather’s shophouse in Lampung, Teluk Betung. We can open it, panel by panel. I peek from inside, and it has symbolical, triangle, circle, and combinations of rectangles forming T. The handle is white, and its symbol is created letter D O T. Every line starts from the dot and ends by the dot. It has the black circle from using traditional hinges like in the vernacular house. Its hinge used to be in a primitive cage which is functional and straightforward joineries. The garage is small, only 3 m x 10 m. It has black tiles, a gypsum ceiling, white-washed walls.

I repositioned the layout, doing experimentation, adding new kinds of stuff every week. In this small space, there are limitations. We changed The floor material from simple black 300 x 300 tiles, lighter paint on the ceramic, carpet, and later wood. I changed it layer by layer in consideration if we moved out, the condition could be back to normal. At this moment, I feel that limitation without losing ground. I love that, and we cherish that condition. Laurensia waited for me outside in this picture. When you open the door, it still resembles the circle. The circle means a family.

Outside the office, there was a red table tennis table. The line was white. I drew the outline of the cities in the acrylic panel as a net. In the background, there are sketches, panels, pinup board, materials. I realized it is the culture of the architect’s studio. We put Syahrini The Hedgehog cage at the corner of the studio.

Architecture Life

MUCH TIME IN STUDIO

I spent much time in the studio. The studio’s background was showing the activity. The studio space can be my desk, meeting room, presentation room, exhibition room, library, or even room for chill out. It has profound memories. I would spend more than 12 hours here. Sometimes Laurensia just came to bring food, and we talked in the studio. She was around me, I felt happy. We took the pictures in our architecture studio, showing time-lapse that doing architecture is a marathon, and she is waiting for all of the time with patience and love.

I love to read and write. Under the book, you can see many small pictures of my assistants in the studio. I framed them and put them inside the studio. I love them and would like to see them growing. On the left, you can visit our fishes, Ariel and Luna. The room has a unique window seat, I put carpet so people can sleep, step on it, and it evolved to be a small working space with corridors behind. The room is small but lovely. I love the intimate corners. I collected architecture books because I believe much wisdom that I can get from distance learning. We would relax in the studio, chatting, discussing, and talk about our activity. She reminded me every day, made me remember that I have to go out and see another thing other than in-studio that architecture is so beautiful outside. Many inspirations are waiting to be seen.

We changed clothes into formal ones and took a picture. This moment of making me grounded is what made us laughed that time is limited. We wore white, and Laurensia’s dress was beautiful. It’s simple, neat, elegant, and casual. She has a beautiful tiara.

She has prepared a balloon from the local seller in front of our high school. Javier and Kian said, “let’s go out!”

After that, we spent the evening playing with balloons and folded bicycle from my mother. Javier and Kian, the photographer, took pictures of us. We picked the corner that is quite far and tranquil, so the neighbors looked at us and stared at us wh we weird looking. “This couple taking pre weed on the street.” It’s uncommon, and that’s what I like about it. My mother is the leader of the district. She is swamped helping people daily. She had a meeting with another leader to discuss flood, landscape, neighborhood farm, maintaining security. She has an inclusive attitude with other people, and you can see the street is clean and well organized because she kept it as her own garden. It’s the background of our pictures.

The setting was beside a small river in our neighborhood. The picture idea was about us catching dreams and giving harmony. In this picture, Laurensia pulled me to the ground, and We drove the bike together, only both of us. We learn cycling by learning to do it repeatedly, then we can do it and never forget it. It’s quite the same in doing relationships. We keep improving, to be better couple day by day.

Now it’s our world. We took several pictures, Javier and Kian did some Magic, capturing expression, and the result was priceless. I remember when I did sky diving in London. I need to prove that I am able to walk outside my comfort zone, but at this time, I do it together with Laurensia.
