Satu ketika saya terbersit ide untuk membuat sebuah seminar isinya 7 orang yang memiliki latar belakang berbeda – beda mengenai bentuk. Latar belakangnya dari beberapa pengalaman perbincangan arsitektur yang baru terbatas di bentuk di sekitar saya. Beberapa orang saya kontak untuk memikirkan hal ini, saya mengontak Johannes Adiyanto pertama kali. Alasannya sederhana, karena dia tersedia dan mudah untuk di kontak, dan juga kami berkali – kali berkolaborasi bersama. Saya bilang ke dia “Mas aku mau buat webinar lagi, mau bantuin ngga ? mulai dua minggu lagi.” Pada saat itu saya juga ngga punya persiapan, yang saya rasa, diskursus mengenai bentuk akan sangat dibutuhkan mengingat bagaimana kecepatan dunia digital yang pembahasannya tidak bisa dalam, dan terkesan membahas bentuk dari produk bukan proses.
Ini rencana saya mula – mula, temanya Theory, Origin, Technique, Critique, Philosophy, Meaning.
Ia menjawab “Tunggu mas jam 20 an bisa ditelp ?” Dari situlah saya bercerita mengenai bagaimana pentingnya webinar kali ini untuk menguliti persoalan bentuk yang mungkin memiliki definisi berbeda dan patut untuk didiskusikan.
Sempat juga saya berdiskusi dengan Nanda Widyarta, ia berkomentar “Form, platonis banget euy,… tapi ini perlu. Orang suka susah bedakan shape dari form.”
Saya menjawab “… yang diperbincangan itu wujud atau bentuk… dua hal yang beda… Ada kompleksitas yang mungkin membuat pemahaman tentang ide tentang konsep bentuk perlu disadari dulu… apa artinya perlu pembahasan soal beda dan guna dulu ya … jadi praktis supaya jelas nanti aplikasi (nya).”
Nanda menjawab “Kemungkinan ada perbedaan konsep di dua budaya (kita dan barat). Di bahasa kita ga ada kata buat “form.” Adanya bentuk. Kata “wujud” diserap dari bahasa Arab. Tapi kita sering anggap wujud dan bentuk itu sama. Bukan sebuah handicap sih. tapi kita (dan umumnya orang sedunia) memamng kerap gagal melihat perbedaan pemahaman konsep2 di budaya2 berbeda… sepakat.”
Dari setelah saya berdiskusi dengan Jo, saya mengontak beberapa kawan – kawan pemateri dan semuanya tertarik. Undi Gunawan untuk teori, Johannes Widodo untuk asal mula, Setiadi Sopandi untuk kritik, Ryadi Adityavarman untuk teknik, Boonserm Premthada, khususnya untuk budaya, Johannes Adiyanto untuk filosofi,dan Revianto Budi Santosa untuk makna. Boonserm Premthada dan karyanya akan menjadi garis tengah gerbang untuk melihat sebuah karya yang memiliki konteks yang mengakar dari sudut pandang budaya. Setelah persiapan yang intensif dari tim Omah Library (Dimas, Hanifah, Satria) materi siap. Pertanyaan Hanifah atau yang sering kami panggil uffi, “Kak rich ini arahnya kemana ?”
Kejadian ini cukup lucu dan menggelitik dan setidaknya begitulah bentuk, sekonyong – konyong ia bisa menjadi arkitipe, yang secara tidak sadar bergerak secaral rasional, empirik ataupun intuitif, dari situ saya mendengar suara sayup – sayup di belakang telinga saya, mengingatkan saya.

Kelas Wacana Arsitektur – BENTUK | FORM]
Bentuk adalah hasil dari produksi pengetahuan arsitektur. Untuk memproduksi pengetahuan arsitektur melalui bentuk diperlukan pemahaman mengenai mengapa satu bentuk dibuat, dan apa dampak dari bentuk tersebut.
Webinar Omah library yang berjudul “Form | Rahasia dibalik sebuah bentuk” membahas bentuk dari sudut pandang teori arsitektur, asal mula (origin), teknik merangkai bentuk, kritik terhadap bentuk, metode desain sekaligus konteks alam dan budaya, filosofi dan pemaknaan. Berbagai sudut pandang ini memberikan peta bagaimana perjalanan sesorang menelusuri perjalanan proses membentuk bentuk. Beberapa pembicara yang akan mengisi acara ini adalah Undi Gunawan, Johannes Widodo, Ryadi Adityavarman, Boonserm Premthada, Johannes Adiyanto, dan Revianto Budi Santosa.
Arsitektur memiliki manifestasi kekuatan yang dahsyat melalui bentuk. Pertanyaannya bagaimana menjadi kreatif sekaligus kritis sehingga muncul hasrat untuk reflektif dan mempertanyakan keadaan sekaligus bersemangat untuk selalu progressif.

The Story Behind the Bentuk | Form
One time I had the idea to make a seminar with 7 people from different backgrounds regarding Form. The background thinking is from some recent experience of limited architectural conversation in the Form around me. I contacted several people to think about this. At first, I called Johannes Adiyanto. The reason is simple: he is available and easy to reach, and we collaborate many times. I said to him, “Mas, I want to do another webinar. Do you want to help? It will start in two weeks.” At that time, I also didn’t have any preparation, which I think a discourse on Form will be very much needed considering how fast the digital world is. The discussion cannot be deep and seems to discuss the Form of the product the process.
This is my original plan. The theme is Theory, Origin, Technique, Critique, Philosophy, Meaning.
He replied, “Wait, mas at 20 can you call?” That’s where I talked about how vital this webinar is to address Form, which may have different definitions and deserves to be discussed.
I also had a discussion with Nanda Widyarta. He commented, “Form, it’s very Platonic, huh, but this is necessary. People like to find it difficult to distinguish shape from Form.”
I answered, “… what is being discussed is Form or Form… two different things… Some complexities might make understanding the idea of the concept of Form need to be realized first… what does it mean, we need to discuss about different and use it first… so it’s practical so that the application will be clear ).”
Nanda answered, “There may be differences in concepts in the two cultures (us and west). In our language, there is no word for “Form.” There is Bentuk. The word “Wujud” is taken from the Arabic language. But we often assume that shape and Form are the same. It’s not a handicap. but we (and the rest of the world in general) do often fail to see the different understandings of concepts in different cultures… agree.”
After I discussed it with Jo, I contacted several of the presenter’s friends, and all of them were interested. Undi Gunawan for theory, Johannes Widodo for origins, Setiadi Sopandi for criticism, Ryadi Adityavarman for technique, Boonserm Premthada, especially for culture, Johannes Adiyanto for philosophy, and Revianto Budi Santosa for meaning. Boonserm Premthada and his work will be the centerline of the gate to see a work that has a deep-rooted context from a cultural point of view. After intensive preparation from the Omah Library team (Dimas, Hanifah, Satria), the material was ready. Hanifah’s questioned me, or what we often call Uffi, is, “What is the narration big brother ?”
This incident is quite funny and intriguing, and at least that’s how it looks, suddenly it can become an archetype, which unconsciously moves rationally, empirically, or intuitively, from which I hear a faint voice behind my ear, reminding me.

Architectural Discourse Class – FORM | FORMS]
The Form is the result of the production of architectural knowledge. To produce architectural knowledge, we require an understanding of why a Form is created and knowing the impact of that Form.
Omah library webinar entitled “Form | The secret behind a form” discusses Form from the point of view of architectural theory, origin, techniques for assembling forms, criticism of Form, design methods as well as natural and cultural contexts, philosophy, and meaning. These various points of view provide a map of how a person’s journey traces the journey of the creation of Form. Some of the speakers who will fill this event are Undi Gunawan, Johannes Widodo, Ryadi Adityavarman, Boonserm Premthada, Johannes Adiyanto, and Revianto Budi Santosa.
Architecture has the manifestation of tremendous power through Form. The question is how to be creative and critical so that there is a desire to be reflective and question the situation and be eager to always be progressive.
